Meeting a Legend: AIS Students play simul with chess grandmaster Vladislav Artemiev

A truly memorable event unfolded at Alabuga Polytech, the largest educational center in the region, as students engaged in a simul chess session with none other than Vladislav Artemiev, the reigning two-time Russian chess champion.

The session kicked off with Artemiev answering participants' questions about strategy, tactics, and his experiences playing against other champions. His insights captivated the audience and set the stage for an exciting day.

Students from AIS, their parents, Alabuga Polytech students, and young chess enthusiasts from other schools had the rare chance to challenge a grandmaster. Among the players were 4-year-old Denis (KG-2), who secured a draw on the 15th move, and 5-year-old Yana (Grade 1), who showed remarkable determination by declining a draw and continuing her game. Draw offers were also extended to several others, including Amir H. (Grade 6), Vissarion A. (Grade 5), Vladimir A. (Gymnasium No. 4), and Matvey F., an Alabuga Polytech student—testament to their impressive preparation.

To commemorate the occasion, all participants received autographed flyers from Vladislav Artemiev. A photo zone allowed everyone to capture this inspiring moment with the chess legend.

This event was not only a celebration of chess but also a boost to students' intellectual growth and love for the game. A heartfelt thank-you goes out to Vladislav Artemiev and all participants for their enthusiasm and spirited play!
