Engineering Thinking from Early Childhood: Alabuga International School Begins a New Academic Year

AIS students are ready to continue learning STEM disciplines
On September 1, Alabuga International School held a ceremony to mark the start of the new academic year. Students, parents, and teachers gathered to launch AIS’s twelfth year of education.

The Knowledge Day celebration opened with a musical performance of the traditional song “What They Teach at School.” Elvira Fomina, Head of SEZ "Alabuga" Educational Cluster Administrating Services, welcomed the guests.

In her address, she outlined the goals for the coming academic year, discussed new developments, and introduced Eduard Yaushev, the new head of Alabuga International School.

“The academic year will be filled with new competitions and championships that will allow us to assess our students’ competitiveness. I wish you a good academic year. Thank you for being with us. I wish everyone success and good health!” she told those gathered.

Following the official ceremony, the program split into two parts. Parents attended orientation meetings with their children’s homeroom teachers. Families were introduced to the curriculum for the 2026/2027 academic year, the school’s internal policies, and school uniform requirements. Teachers also explained the academic assessment system, the criteria for selecting top students, the grounds for issuing formal warnings, and the schedule of planned field trips.

Meanwhile, students took part in a sports and entertainment program. Relay races and an obstacle course helped strengthen their sense of teamwork before classes began.

This year, 166 students began their studies. They will develop their engineering thinking, explore the world, and create their own projects for the benefit of humanity. Alabuga International School’s innovative approach to education is built on interdisciplinary learning and project work, bringing together science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
