Science and adventure: AIS research trip to Baikal

Our students have returned from an exciting research trip to Lake Baikal, and we are eager to share the highlights with you!

This trip was not only a holiday but also an immersion into the world of science, nature and amazing discoveries.

During these 7 intense days the guys:
  • studied the flora and fauna of Baikal;
  • dived into the world of botany, collecting nettles and preparing micromedicine;
  • climbed to the largest solar-vacuum telescope in Eurasia;
  • visited the Botanical Garden and the Children's Railway;
  • went to the Circum-Baikal railway and took a boat ride on Baikal;
  • visited Baikal Museum and had a microbiological workshop;
  • saw the radio telescope RTF-32 in the Astrophysical Observatory of the Russian Academy of Sciences and learnt how to calculate the position of satellites.

Our days on Baikal were so active! We saw incredible beauty, explored science a little bit, learnt a lot of new things about the history and culture of this amazing region
