On 15 June 2018, Alabuga International School received the status of Authorised Primary Years Programme The International Baccalaureate® School.
The Primary Years Programme PYP is designed for pupils aged 7 to 11 years old and aims to develop children as a whole and to foster their curiosity both in and out of the classroom. PYP is a cross-curricular programme and is flexible enough to meet the requirements of most national or local curricula. It ensures that students are best prepared for the IB Secondary School Programme.

An inquiry-based learning environment means that a student's unique abilities and interests are taken into account when building skills that they will need throughout their lives. This includes thinking, researching and understanding cultural context. Most importantly, what students gain from the programme is a curiosity for learning and the ability to find information independently, as well as to make a positive impact on the local community.
Pupils are excited to go to school and enjoy the process of inquiry-based learning. By encouraging pupil voice, choice and responsibility, PYP builds confident, happy, creative, empathetic and self-motivated young people.

What do PYP students learn?
PYP is a conceptual curriculum that integrates subject areas to support enquiry and learning in meaningful contexts. The interdisciplinary nature of the curriculum allows students to experience how subject knowledge and understanding work together in the real world while experiencing the individual components.
PYP EXHIBITION
In the PYP graduating class, students participate in a PYP exhibition that gives them the opportunity to explore, reflect, document and share their understanding of an issue of personal significance. The entire learning community celebrates together at a culminating event. The presentation and assessment skills developed through the PYP Exhibition develop confident students and successfully prepare them for the IB Middle Years Programme or the next stage of their education.
